*It is very important for news teams and journalists to work together in order to broadcast news that is new, current and important to the audience because it provides them with information that they need to know. A good way to do this is to hold meetings together and discuss what is the most important issues currently and what news stories they believe the public should know about, for example if the Thames water was contaminated , that would be a news story that the public would urgently need to know about since many people drink from the tap.
The meetings would also be used to divide tasks between different people and speed up the process of providing news to the public and most importantly meeting deadlines.
*They would also discuss what type of news stories would go well together and match with the interest of their target audience as well as the amount of information regarding that news story they have found is truly valuable.
*They also point out that in order to find news a good journalist must be always curious to know what is going on and any other extra information about a topic.
Gathering News:
*When gathering facts they point out that it is important that the journalist checks their facts carefully and make sure that they can distinguish between what is facts (no one can prove otherwise) or opinion, unless they can provide both sides of the argument to make sure that it is balanced.
*The journalist must also consider the 5 Ws Who, What, When, Where, Why but not forget HOW as well so that they can provide the information to the public in as much detail as possible so that they are not left with any doubts towards that issue.
*It is also important that journalists are prepared to challenge interviewees by being well informed. This will allow them to get the most out of interviews with people that have knowledge and experience in the issue they are focused on.
*They also point out that there is an additional news value, they have to be `Impartial`
Writing News
*It is very important that they think about what pictures and words are going to appear on screen.
*They must follow a certain structure when writing reports.
-The begin should have the lead sentence ´Who, what, where and when´
-The rest of the report should be focused on ´how everything happed.
-The last paragraph should inform the public ´what will happen next´
*However before all of this the journalists must review their material and decide on what where the best answers they got from their interviews.
*They must also make sure that they follow the 3Cs Clear, Concise (not too much unnecessary information is given) and Correct (grammar and punctuation).
