Sound Codes

Speech: *Different forms of speech can be used to either interact with the listener and subject or narration. Two forms of speech that are used are dialogue (interactive) and voice over (Dialogue).
An example of narration would be the commercials heard on the radio and seen on TV. In order for the message of the advert to be to be understood clearly by the listener different types of voices are used to support the advert and grab the attention of the target audience. for example if the commercial was about children's toys then the voice heard would be thin and high supported by exhilarated cadence to show that the children are enthusiastic about the product.

*When choosing a speaker for voice overs it is important that the speaker chosen is able to express the necessary emotions with their voice using different tones, pitches and talking paces to put the right about of emphasise on different parts of the information they are giving, this will make sure that the credibility of the total production can depend on the adequate signifiers from the voice.

*Dialogue is a form of speech that allows the user to feel like they are a part of what is happening in the screen as it is not just a dialogue that takes place on screen but also between an object on the screen and the user.

*Usually speakers with different accents are avoided when presenting news because the listeners often find  posh British accents more reliable, this is why most news programmes contain a speaker with a posh British accent. However sometimes accents can be used if the accent is a relevant signifier in the presentation.

*Artificial effects can also be used as an index for lack of realism for a example a dream world are lack of realism. Some artificial sounds that might be used are echoing and fading in or out.

Diegetic sound: These are the sounds we hear on the screen that represent the objects that we see on the screen. for example the sound of animals we see on the screen.

Non-diegetic:These are the sounds that we cannot see on screen such as a voice over, which is often used in documentaries, where only the speaker´s voice can be heard but they are no where to be seen.
